I just think it's interesting that people continue to say that if we have comments or concerns about the reunion to either post them or contact a committee member. When I posted my last comment, the discussion page was shut down out of frustration.

This is why some of the class members didn't go to the committee in the first place. They feared upsetting people and not being heard.

Please understand that I only commented AFTER specifically being encouraged to by representatives of the committee and AFTER other class members came forward with their concerns about the fee. I simply expressed some of the reasons for those concerns.

The comment about questions not being addressed to the right people seemed to be a direct attack at me. That’s why I posted the follow-ups. For the past year, I’ve been one of the ones who has been receiving questions and concerns—when no one else was doing it.

Some committee members are missing my points and not really reading and giving thought to what I have written.

I didn't say that I thought the committee was taking people's money or that the committee members were ENRON or AIG. I used those two companies as references to illustrate other people's concerns.

I was not personally asking for an itemization of the details. I only suggested that as a way to ease the minds of other individuals who stated that they would not pay the fee because they thought it was too much.

If you don't tell people that the rental of the center costs $1000, then they don't know that.

If you ask us to take part in the discussion, then hear us out...otherwise I don't understand why we keep being asked for comments and concerns at this late date.

I think it's not good business to threaten a class member with a refund when they've only expressed actual concerns of the class members after being asked to do so--especially when that class member has given support to the group for an entire year.

I am not the only one with these concerns. I am just one of the few who is willing to put it out there.

As I have previously stated in my other posts, I think you all have done a good job of getting things together. Class members just don’t feel like people care if they attend or not.

The committee has not threatened anyone with a refund. We are only putting into consideration the financial hardship during these economic times and will glady return any money. Although you have expressed the concerns of other people, those individuals need to contact a commitee member personally because only you know who those person are. The individuals that had issues brought them to us and we addressed them.We have allowed invidivduals to make payment arrangements to cover the fees. If you have any other issues please contact a committee member personally and we will be glad to have a conference call with you.
Also, as far as the PEOPLE you are referring to, no one should have a fear of being heard. Everyone had to opportunity to voice their opinions and be a part of the committee. It does not take that much to get a point across or to ask a question. By not having the PEOPLE come and directly ask the questions it sounds like hear say. You also had the opportunity to be on the committee. Eventhough you live out of town, we could have conferenced you in on speaker phone. It sounds like you are saying that we don't know what we are doing. Yes you did help get this started and Yes we appreciate that. It seems like because it's not the way you would have done things the reunion is not good enough. Everybody has had a difficult time, whether it was this month or sometime this year, financially. We can go on and on about this. The bottom line is we are here to try and get the class of 99 together to have a good time. If anyone else has a concern you should let them address the issue so that we can hear from them exactly what there concern is. When people talk for others, words get twisted and it is never said the same way.

As we said before if this is not what you want to do we will gladly return your money or anyone else's money that feels the same way. No one is being forced to do anything. My phone is always open for anyone to call including you. 615-714-1432
I never said that the reunion wasn't good enough. In fact, I think you all have put together an even better reunion than most of us anticipated. That's why the cost became such an issue in the first place. Still, I think I have shown my support of the reunion by paying my money, encouraging others to attend, and trying to be there for it. Expressing concerns--especially when I have been prompted to do so--doesn't mean I'm trying to run things.

My presence, or lack thereof, at the committee meetings is irrelevant. I expressed my thoughts before and after the committee was formed. I have always tried to make myself available from a distance. I WAS called during that first committee meeting, but I told people up front to go with what the majority wanted—not what I wanted. The problem is the "majority" only turned out to be a handful of individuals.

I can't make people speak up for themselves or take up their concerns with the committee directly. I can only encourage them to talk to the proper individuals--which I have already done. Some probably didn’t speak up because they didn’t want to deal with the fall-out, as I am doing now.

There is just one thing that I don't understand. Just over the course of the past 4 days, you wrote that issues weren't being brought to the committee. That is why I went ahead and addressed them for a second time. Then today, you stated that committee members did receive concerns and had already addressed them. If it was true that people weren't bringing issues to the committee, then how could the committee have already addressed them? Apparently, some of the people that initially came to me did actually go to the committee. Even if they hadn't, would it have really made a difference? The bottom line is that a firm fee and a firm deadline were already set by the committee at that point.

You say that the bottom line is that you want to get the Class of ‘99 together to have a good time. To me, it looks like people are just being pushed away instead. Plus, if the people who actually do show up are all mad at each other, that doesn't sound like a good time to me.

Whether people characterize these concerns as “hearsay” or not, the concerns are there. I have no reason to lie or misrepresent that. At any rate, my “claims” have been substantiated by recent postings. Just yesterday at least one other person stated her concern about the fee in writing to the committee on the group site. Two other committee members immediately addressed her concern in a very cordial manner.

I apologize if I have offended you with my comments, but I stand behind every word. In my responses, I have attacked ideas and arguments—not people. I am being attacked now, on a personal level. As of now, I have said what I have to say.
That is fine. I feel like this has been a debate and not asking a question or addressing a concern. You have your opinion and outlook on things just as well as I do. Regardless of what has been said or typed I have no hard feelings. I'm ready to see my class of 99 classmates and party like it was 1999!
I have no hard feelings either.
